Title: Export Lightning 1968.
Post by: tdc on 25 Sep, 2024, 10:49
Still beset with wireing woes . As most of the headlamp wireing had been removed save for the ignition and oil light also the single pole double throw headlamp switch .I am at an utter loss to see how the speedo, rev counter and the running lights could be made to turn on and off as required just by being run through the double throw headlight switch ?

Hi,

Do you have a workshop manual?  Assuming that you have the toggle switch that has off/on/on positions, I think the diagram on page G27 will help.  Each connection on the switch is numbered as is the diagram with the relevant wires.  e.g. connection 7 on the switch has the speedo, tacho and tail light attached.

Thanks Dave .The headlamp switch as fitted without any wires attached, was a Single Pole Double action throw on off . But the ' Lucas' replacement DPDT has no numbers on it and with a new harnes fitted I still cannot see how you can cancel the pilot light for the head light without ending up both lights on ? I can work out all other lights also on diag.G.27.

I hope this image helps.  Number 1 is the one on the top left.
