Hi,
Who supplies good quality clutch cables? I have had one fail after only about 5000 miles. My spare is from the same place so will probably not last any longer. These were bought from De Groot last year and whilst not the heftiest looking I expected a longer life. No, my clutch does not need 'gorilla' strength to use it.
Are the T140 cables the same as 1970 A65? Venhill offer the Triumph but not specifically BSA and they are good cables.
Dave.
I always make my own using Venhill components. They will make a cable to your specification, as will JJ Cables of Banbury who are well recommended. https://www.facebook.com/jjcables/
Hi,
Found some NOS BSA cables on ebay for 19.99 so ordered 2.
Dave.
fekked do a 'made in england ' cable, 68-8500. for my bike for £25 ready to fit. i hear and assume they are reasonably good quality. are they?
Hi,
Genuine Doherty should be OK but some pattern ones are a bit thin hence the one that failed on my bike. Bear in mind that the inner can stretch and the outer compress. This results in a loss between the movement of the lever and the lift of the clutch. The later A65s have little enough lift as it is so ideally a heavy duty cable is needed.
Dave.
they are listed as doherty ones
Hi,
Yes. I had a look. The BSA ones from Burton Bike Bits that I have ordered are a bit cheaper but some unnamed ones are available for £12 to £15. Cheap but not so cheerful when the inner breaks.
Dave.
Hi ,
Cables arrived today in proper BSA packing. They even have the nipple for oiling part way along. I expect these to last a long time.
Good service from BBB.
Dave.
they dont do one for a early a65. they do one for the 64/65/66 (think it was those years) but not the 68-8500. wonder what the difference is
Hi,
I think that the early ones did not have 31,32,33. The cable must have had more free length.
Dave.
typical. innit fair
looks like it might be cable lengths. thats assuming the pics are the right pics
Hi,
It looks like only the 1962 models did not have these parts. The next change was 1969.
The inner cable would probably need to be a bit longer to reach the operating arm.
Dave.
