Title: C15 Amal Removal
Post by: C15S on 20 Sep, 2024, 23:46
I am new to BSAs and want to remove the carb prior to removing the engine from the frame.  I have at least 5 manuals that tell me how to disassemble the Amal carb on my C15s, but not one tells me how to remove the throttle and choke cable from the top of the carb.  I disconnected the fuel line and assume I should disconnect the throttle and choke before removing the carb.  How do I disconnect the cables or am I doing it wrong.

You need to undo the two screws on the top of the carb and then the cap, throttle slide, needle and cable(s) all slide out together. If you don't need to adjust anything on the carb you can put this assembly in a zip lock bag or something and tie it out of the way. Undo the two mounting note and slide the carb off.

Hi
One addition ...
If it's an early C15 with a Monobloc carb the top comes off by unscrewing the knurled brass ring rather than there being two screws holding the top on.
