Post by: difflock on 02 Sep, 2024, 14:49
I need a new battery old one missing on recently purchased b31 1949  do I need 2 batteries at 4.5amp each and wire in parallel or 1 battery at 10amp which i believe to be the requirement?
I need a dry type rechargeable - any suggestions welcomed!

They do the job and dont pump acid gas over your bike. Also they eithe normally r work or dont work. No mystery electrical failures

AGM batteries are great they hold their charge longer than lead acid types during a winter layup. Only drawback you need a charger that is suitable but as most modern digital chargers are multi functional anyway and reasonably priced it's not a big drawback.

Had one fairly small (4 or 5Ah) ordinary cheap lead acid battery on a Norton WD16h. After 6 years unattended, the horn was a bit weak. So you might be lucky with anything.
Can't see the reason for anything bigger as long as the dynamo works.

I use those AGM alarm batteries on anything with a dynamo and magneto. They're only around £15 and seem to last for years.
