OK, a beginner question here. I want to reconnect the oil return hose to my oil tank, but I think it would be wide to replace the metal crimp ring which holds it on. But I have never used these before.
What are they called? What should I ask for? It anyone could share links It would be doubly helpful.
Thanks,
Ian
Answering my own question but I reckon these will do the job: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Glarks-Plated-Double-Standard-Pincers/dp/B074TC9VQG/ref=sr_1_6?crid=140P9D20TQWNG&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.W-5PwSktP-NNEWCu0jajzNBwilOROyJqc9i0ODZL-qCEEL3vJL-hLqBBdQ-3D8LaHaiUI__nXpjcBfhqIdIuyODTWpE78-S1plbIguNW49UX7hDb7uJRVa36Kv0U3QXexvHo_P3xV6p8xjZfXaOaFeEMheuAqlZqnUAgrvZ1wT-wJbepzf72gG36loIX_RdSHdICQPY-JcYBLlmBDNZFd8LsngubUleFvPbWYxU8tpSvU5NEj5jvcRBaP8DZbigGxD78k-Y6UJ2bcF7JJLy-hqkr8ODdR-NFMxG7p8FVMtE.jP942BjwRBgTczgyJCkrZNioOB9-oDlGJH49Au7YoK4&dib_tag=se&keywords=crimping+hose+clips+double+ear&qid=1725117912&sprefix=crimping+hose+clips+double+ear%2Caps%2C89&sr=8-6
Sounds like a Hose Clamp to me. They come in many different configurations, most of which are spring loaded. You can also get the very small 'Jubilee Clip' which has an adjuster, which can be tightened by a screwdriver or small socket. You need to find the inner and outer diameter of the hose.
My B44 had double ear crimp rings holding the oil pipes on the various stubs.
They look smart but they are an absolute nightmare to remove if you need to disconnect the oil pipes.
I had to resort to a Dremel to cut through the ears, which is fine if they are easily accessible, but they aren't.
Personally, I would stick with hose clamps that can be undone easily.
That's a good thought! Although my return hose is around 8mm so a little small for a jubilee style clip.
It is just as well that I have a Dremel!

I have some 7 to 9mm size jubilee clips that would do the job there's plenty on sale on eBay or a car parts shop.
I prefer not to use jubilee clips that small
Dedicated hose clips of the right size will clip the pipe evenly and not cut into or distort it.
I prefer stainless ones too.
if the hose bore is roughly correct, good doey up things can be got at any car/bike spares shop. i got mine at good old halfords.
other sizes availible

Yes those are the ones, stainless if you can find them
easily availible.
You're looking for hose clamps or crimp rings. I've used these a bunch of times on my car projects. Just make sure you get the right size for your hose. If you're unsure, take the hose with you to the store or check out the size online. You can check Amazon, they have a ton of options.
I used double ear crimp rings in the end and they went on a treat. I'll use these again, although, maybe only on hose which I won't need to remove very often.
