Title: Registration
Post by: spike123 on 29 Aug, 2024, 00:08
Hi guys I've got three a65 and want to register them on the road here in Australia but can't do it until I can find out if they have been registered here before if not they will be classed as imports
Which will cost more money, does anyone know of a way I can do this
Cheers

The factory records will show if the bikes were exported from UK and to where. Would this information satisfy your state registration authorities?

putting into perspective.

BSA never had a factory anywhere apart from England , So, they would have had to be imported into Australia.

Two options for them being there, They were officially imported by BSA dealers there OR an owner imported themselves.

The only problems I can see are... if an ex pat imported them and never got round to finishing them then they were never registered , likewise, if a business imported a container, as happens here in England, another case of first registration.
Presumably, all the bikes shipped for the clubs annual  camp, came back.

Best option is to apply to the club rergister and hopefully, get the proof of official export and to which dealer there. A long shot would be to see if any of those dealers are still in existance and have any old records.

Spike,
have a look in the back of one of the many workshop manuals, there is usually a list of UK and World dealers for the marque.

Hi
What state/territory are you in?  I have registered an AJS and a couple of BSAs in both NSW and ACT and all they ask for is a receipt for when you purchased the bike. I didnt have one for one bike so just made one up - they never check, and I was never asked if it was previously registered.

Hi
Have you enquired with the Vintage Motorcycle Club of Western Australia?  I'm sure they will be able to guide you through the process.
