Title: BSA STD GEARBOX
Post by: Bigsingle on 25 Aug, 2024, 23:32
I see gasket sets available for  B31 B33 A7 and A10
As the same part number , I have a 54 B33  swingarm with the STD on the box , so are the A7 and A10 the exactly the same box ,or the same internally .it will help with finding parts .cheers

Year for year they are the same.
Changes (that I am aware of - there will be more) are:
Prior to 1955 the kickstart quadrant and its mating ratchet gear on the mainshaft went from flat top tooth profile to pointy (help eliminate k/s jamming) and you cannot mix types.
In 1958 the inner cover went from having the split and threaded clutch cable mount to solid non-threaded type when it went from clutch cable adjuster on the case to on the handlebar lever.
Of course there are huge variations in Gold Star boxes from STD T, TR, SC, DAY, RRT, RRT2 (and. Some US ones)
