Title: Oil filter gauze
Post by: chrisx1 on 10 Aug, 2024, 17:27
I've bought an aftermarket sump filter for the A65 . It didn't come with a gauze filter just the magnetic drain plug. Is the original gauze supposed to be removable?

I have found the appropriate gauze filter for my sump cover now, ordered and on its way.

So the sump filter arrived but doesn't fit.

Will it line up better if you turn it over?

I've tried it in all 8 positions. It was the Karma Sutra of the motorcycle world. This is the closest I got. By all accounts it's not uncommon and you have to do a bodge job to make it fit. I wish I'd known that before I spent £20, I would have made something myself.

Send it back!
That's the only way they'll fix the issue.

Just a note the bsa unit singles and the twins look very similar but the hole is in slightly different place

I spoke to Geoff at SRM and he suggested that I heated the cases up with a heat gun and give it a twist. Well a twist and a little bit of persuasion with a spanner and a mallet sorted the problem. Got it squared up nicely.
