Title: C15S Cam Installation
Post by: C15S on 21 Jul, 2024, 03:26
I recently bought a 1962 C15S.  Bike dirty, but in excellent shape, garaged for 20+ years.  Only issue at this point is that some previous owner pulled the inner timing cover.  It came with all of the major gears and most of the small parts.  I have purchased what was missing.  My question is about the thick camshaft washer plate (40-0106), tabbed washer (40-0117) and the nut.  Rupert does not show, or discuss the installation.  The thick washer has two cutouts, on smaller than the other.  I am assuming that after I get the inner case back on I install the thick washer with smallest notch over the pin in the shaft, then the tabbed washer, then the nut.  Is there a spec on tightening the nut, or just snug before bending over a tab on the tabbed washer?

Correct order of assembly is as you describe, it's pretty much self evident hence no real need for Rupert to waste ink on it!
If you've changed to outer cam bush the outer end of it needs to be flush with the surrounding machined surface of the casing.

Thanks for the reply.  Seemed pretty strait forward, but I'm new to British bikes and just wanted to make sure.
