Title: Hornet High Level Pipes
Post by: Iain Allen on 04 Jul, 2024, 18:02
Hi
I'm looking for a bit of advice or info about Hornet high level pipes.
I really like the look of them and I'm considering fitting a pair the my '69 A65L.

I realise they're not standard and I'll need to sort out mounts, may burn my legs and will be louder than my standard pipes but I'm still interested  ;D

I've seen longer ones for the '66 on Hornet that apparently don't require silencers, they're available here
https://www.classicbikeshop.co.uk/bsa-a65-hornet-1966-on-high-level-exhaust-pipes.html (https://www.classicbikeshop.co.uk/bsa-a65-hornet-1966-on-high-level-exhaust-pipes.html)

Does anyone have any input on these or where to buy or not buy?
Happy for people to message me if they'd rather not post.
Many Thanks
Iain

I am hopefully taking delivery of a `63 A65 fitted with high level pipes, they have a sort of silencer, but sounded great (on wottsup). they have a heat shield which look well with the bike. I can ask him where he got them if you like

Congratulations on the new bike.

That would be good if you could find out.

I'd wondered about fitting a short tailpipe if the pipes were too loud. I certainly read about it somewhere, probably on the BritBike Forum.

Thanks
Iain

Do you remember where you bought them and if there were any fitting problems.

I expect I'll have to make a P clamp but not an issue....I hope.

Armours only have the Hornet pipes at the moment but said yesterday in an email that they would make more Firebird pipes in the Autumn but didn't say which year or if that would include silencers only that they would be the pre oil in frame design.

I'm going to phone Armours later and see if I can get any more info.

The Armours Hornet pipes look better finished than the Wassells but I'm just going by photos on the web.
