Title: Kick start shaft queery
Post by: TTJOHN on 26 Jun, 2024, 17:14
Hello All.
Just a quicky.
Well, I'm gradually getting on with the D7 engine but I was looking at the kick start shaft and noticed there is a recess in this, I was wondering is this meant to be for an 'o' ring? or is this the way it is manufactured, as I don't see anything about this in my book.

Thanks in advance John

No O ring on these, I have built 1949 D1 to 1971 B175.

Photo shows D1 - D14 type on the right and the more robust B175 type on the left.

Julian

Thanks mate, I can se now that the one I am doing at the moment is a D7 and that it has the thicker shaft size, so hopefully oil from the primary case won't leak past it.

Regards John

To be honest , my D7s let very little, if any out of that area.
I had co sidereal making a thick felt washer behind the kick start le er , but judged wasn't worth the effort.
