Title: B31 tank from India - thread details please
Post by: gallowdu on 08 Jun, 2024, 13:11
Hi,

Anyone who has purchased and fitted such a tank, can you help me with the thread sizes for the tank badges, knee pads and mounting bolt threads please?

I'm told the mounting holes are M6, can anyone confirm this? I was going to order new badges from Drags (29-7910) and the screws (65-8317) but wanted to know if that is the correct thread for the Indian tanks. I have tried contacting the e-Bay seller but no response yet.

TIA

It shouldn't be difficult to check if the support mounting and tank rubber threads are M6 but the threads for the badges should smaller, if metric I'd guess M4 or M3.5.

I always thought that M3.5 was just for fixing mains light switches etc to back boxes. Was I wrong?

Can't think of any other uses, but there must be some.

Just to close out the thread, I can confirm the mounting holes on my tank are M8, the knee pad holes are M6 and the new badges from Drags will go on with 6BA screws after I have tapped out the holes. The petcock supplied does not fit the original copper fuel pipe so I'm going with 13mm ID rubber fuel hose for now.

Thanks
