Title: Sticking tickler!
Post by: Dibble on 04 Jun, 2024, 08:43
Having trouble with rt hand concentric zs fitted to my 66 spitfire. When priming for cold start it insists on sticking and thus petrol everywhere. Renewed viton float needles checked floats etc. Can the actual tickler assembly be dismantled and if so how? Any thoughts anyone? Thanks
Dave.

Do you mean the tickler is sticking down, or the float, when pushed down by tickling, sticks down?

Hi
You can dismantle the tickler, if memory serves its simply a case of getting a firm grip on the internal end and pulling! Watch out for the spring. Amal do a replacement knob which is much bigger and hence easier to locate by feel.
Reassembly is the reverse; put the parts together, not forgetting the spring, and squeeze.
Hope you get it sorted.

Check the float isnt sticking on the side cover screw casting.

On Concentrics there's some new float bowl gaskets where the float can hang up. The gasket needs careful trimming.

Sorry. I was thinking of the monobloc, but yes some of the  new gaskets for the concentric do interfere with the float operation.
