Title: A65 Star Twin Clutch cable abutment question
Post by: Paul2Tall28 on 13 May, 2024, 14:29
Hi all,

I have a 1963 A65 Star twin. I am having issues with the clutch cable connection at the engine case end. Am I right in assuming the abutment is supposed to fit in the hole in casing? The one on my bike is too big in diameter to fit. The inside diameter of both abutment and hole in casing seem to be the same so cant take down and don't want to open hole in casing if can be avoided. I recently ordered a new abutment piece as described as 1962 onward, but this is identical to the existing.

Is there a smaller size available or am i missing something here?

Will add photos asap

Paul

Hi Paul.  Had the same issue on my 1962 bike.  I simply cut the head off a 10mm bolt and drilled a hole through the middle to clear the cable nipple.  The resulting hollow threaded piece was cut to the required length and a nut screwed on to allow fine adjustment of the length.  Took about 20 minutes to make and seems to work OK.  Rob
