Title: ZB32 1951
Post by: V500 on 08 May, 2024, 22:03
My 1951 Goldie plunger doesn't have the usual one-piece rear mudguard stay/support, but two separate straight stays each side mounting to the plunger top bolt.
Would this be correct for this model, or just something someone has done in the intervening 73 years?

Afraid I don't know.
If Derek does not chip in then I suggest a post on the Gold Star part of the Britbike forum.
There are some very knowledgeable and helpful regarding these details and will either have pics or diagrams of these things.

Fair enough. I've since Googled the model and found many images of this bike and all have separate straight stays rather than the B31/A10 type of 90' angled stays with a brazed central lug.

This pic is of an original unrestored ZB32GS belonging to a friend. The rear stays are individual with a bridge under the mudguard but the front stays are a one piece loop.

Just to muddy the waters this is from the 1949-53 parts book.

That's for a rigid frame bike but the ZB32 is a plunger frame. I don't think I've ever seen a plunger bike with the lifting handle in the same position as the rigids.

Sorry, you are correct. This is the plunger one.

Thanks for confirming that.
