Title: Tank badge for 1940 M21 (Civilian model)
Post by: PeterinOz on 06 Apr, 2024, 23:07
I am currently restoring my 1940 M21 and I do not have tank badges.  The badges are oval and screwed onto the tank by two 1/8" BSW screws at 2 3/4"centres.  The attached photo is a 1937 BSA but is the same for the 1940.  Hopefully the link works too.

Does anyone have tank badges they are willing to part with?  Alternatively, if have a badge, could you take a photo with a rule in the photo so I can make them myself.  The only measurement I really need is the vertical height.

Thanks in advance of any assistance.

Peter

This is the full page from the 1940 catalogue which is dated December 1939. Given those uncertain times and the different markets the bikes were intended for the exact appearance of the machines might vary from this artists impression.

Thanks for your reply.  I have a photocopy of the 1940 catalogue that includes this image.  While I remain hopeful, I think I may have to craft some from brass and have the badge engraved by either computer controlled laser or milling.

I have found two badges from a fellow BSA rider in Australia.  Thanks for member's interest.
