I have a 1933 bsa and can't get the brake and clutch cable to stop sliding out the leavers it's the old push thru and tighten up style leavers is there a certain way these should fit ? Thanks any help muchly appreciated !!
George,
Do you mean that the inner cable is not being gripped by the solderless nipple, and pulling through?
I wonder what parts you have? There are 2 main parts to the nipple. There is what BSA call the Cable Gripping Pin 26-9431. There are 2 types of these, one with a hexagon and one without. Then there is the Lever Roller 26-9481....a sort of top hat bush with a hole drilled in it.
Without the cable fitted, you need to make sure that the pin will go through the roller far enough so that the hole in the roller covers the hole in the pin.
Then, when the flat washer and nut are fitted, and the nut tightened fully, the cable will be clamped tightly. If the washer is missing, it might not clamp the cable.
This is not a problem with the type of pin without the hexagon, since the pin will go all the way through the roller.
BTW, JJ Cables recommend applying solder to the inner cable where it goes through the nipple.
Let us know if I have misunderstood your question.
Steve.
Just to bump this one, I'm making 26-9431 right now. It has a 1/16" Whitworth Hex and an oversized 3/16" BSF thread.

I simply fitted a second solderless nipple
