Hello,
Please forgive me on a question I'm sure been asked before.
I'm new here and still getting used to the search method.
I have a B33 1952. I stripped the engine down bought new valves, guides and got the head valve seat cut but local engine engineer.
But when starting to reassemble I got thinking as what fuel do the engine needs.
The only thing I know about todays fuel is when I fill up the car there as a E5 and E10 choice.
Would either of these two fuels work straight or do i need to add any additive?
and if an additive is required what make would you suggest?
or would it best to fit hardened valve seats and again what fuel would be used?
Thank you, David :) :)
Hi,
This is one of those subjects that always gets the chat going. As your bike is not a high compression E10 will be fine. We have run our A10 and A65 on E10 over many miles with no additives and no problems. The valve seats will be fine.
Consider the petrol that would have been available when our bikes were designed. Low octane and possibly war time 'pool' petrol.
Dave.
I agree with Dave.
I only use E10 super Unleaded in all my bikes..... also the fact that the Ethanol attacks a lot of the rubbers in the fuel lines Etc and the carbs........... I still put in tho the castrol Valve master Plus as the plus one do deal with the Ethanol Not just the standard Valve master.... but the plus one just to be on the safe side and had No problems even over winter storage.
Hope that helps. ;D

Wotcha.
I prefer the E5 flavour - but will put E10 if I have to. So far nothing nasty has happened. :D
Thanks for the quick replies.
I can now get this motor back together and move to the next bit.
Regards, David
oh yeah
sorry I meant E5 .....Not E10 ..less that stuff the better ha
Is this some sort of new fangled two cylinder B33😂
Assuming you have std flat top piston you will be fine.
Iirc E5 and E10 have slightly higher octane than corresponding unleaded ethanol free
I've been using Super in a 600 DBD with 10:1 CR which was ethanol free until recently but even local supplier of that is E5.
