As the picture shows, something is not right with the lower mountings of my rear shockers. The nut is only partly engaged. I am wondering if maybe the previous owner has fitted an incorrect rear shocker with a mounting eye that is too wide for a C15? Or maybe the attachment stud has been shortened at some point? (Hopefully not - it looks as though it is welded in during manufacture!)
Does anyone have dimensions for the correct length of the mounting stud? And the correct dimensions of the C15 rear shocker, including the width of the lower eye?
It might be that those are not the original shocks. I have shocks that are 24mm and some that are 19mm wide, so check that yours are not too wide.
The machining on the stud looks to be factory, so my guess is that the shocks are not original.
I dont think there is anything wrong with the stud. The nut should be a slim/half width nut, not a full nut as shown in the photo.
Doesn't look wrong , as said , the correct nut is a slim nut.
I'll try to upload a pic of my c15 for you
The rear shocker mounting ring is about 18mm wide - so it sounds likely that the shocker is correct. I am sourcing some 3/8" cycle thread half-nuts - seems they are used in various places on a C15 - thanks for that!
Agreed Julian, it should be a half nut.
The washer is also incorrect, instead there should be a pressed steel cup washer which is made from steel about 0.5mm thick. Fitting that would also make a bit more thread available.
That looks much better. Thanks!
