Hi all need a little advice am about to fit new fuel taps to my tank as I am using 1/4 x1/4 taps and 3/8 to 1/4 adaptors and was wondering the best way to ensure a good seal. would PTFE tape be adequate or is it unstable with petrol . thanks in anticipation Ian
Hi,
It's excellent.

I agree with Bess - it is excellent also easy to apply and easy to remove.
Bess and Julian thanks to both of you for your thoughts..... a trip to the plumbers merchants for fresh stocks before the weekend for me !!!!!
Dowty washers also useful.
thanks Julian for the advice on the washers
I find using PTFE tape is ideal to put on on a tap thread in a taper, so that you when tightening-up the tap , you can get the tap into the position you want and not where the washer dictates. Griff
thanks Griff you;ve confirmed my thoughts exactly .....you can guarantee that sods law will line the tap up 1/8th of a turn off straight !!!!!!
