Title: Can anyone recommend a supplier of a track silencer that fits well for an RGS?
Post by: RGSJon on 06 Dec, 2023, 16:26
I am nearing the end of a long slow complete rebuild of my RGS.  The only outstanding need is for a track silencer that fits well.  I always used to buy these from George Prew, as stuff from him always fitted.  (I bought the exhaust pipe from him a few years ago - yes, it's a slow rebuild   :) )  But he's out of stock and his supplier isn't making any more.  I have seen reports on other forums of bad fits from both Armours and Wassell products.  The ones from Feked and Draganfly I haven't seen any reports of.

Can anyone report a source of a silencer that fits like it should please?  The old BSA ones were perfect in that respect.  If I wasn't so ancient I might make one!

Thanks for any and all help,

Jon

Have a look at fecked. They are made on site and triple layer chromed.

Have a look on classicbikeshop website. I got twin goldstar silencers at a reasonable price and they are well made.

Regards Rich.

Thanks for your help guys.  I'll let you know how I get on, probably the other side of Christmas.  It's the fit of the silencer I'm most interested in - a badly fitting exhaust can easily spoil an otherwise good bike.
Cheers,
Jon

Try Roger Sharman of Cake Street Classics. He recommissioned my '62 RGS some years ago and did a wonderful job.

Hi James, just noticed your reply.  I used to use Roger Sharman for parts like that, but he retired a while back.

Kind regards,

Jon
