Title: BSA A50 oil ring
Post by: zidz on 29 Nov, 2023, 12:49
Hi,

I got new sets of pistons rings and I have a question regarding to oil ring.
There is no mark at all on them like on other rings...

So I suppose that they are symetrical... Is it correct?
Thank you
Zdenek

Hi Zdenek,

If the ring is not marked to indicate 'top' then it can be fitted either way.  Sometimes the compression rings have a right way up and will be marked as such.  Occasionally the compression rings will marked to be fitted in the top groove or second groove. Instructions with the rings will explain this if necessary.

Dave.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for the reply...
yes, compression rings are marked with "top". But oil ring is without any marks, so I wantet to be sure...

Thanks

dont forget to space the ring end gaps at 120 degree intervals
start at the top ring diametrically opposite the spark plug
next ring down is 120 degrees round from the top and then oil ring 120 round from that
