Title: oil pumps
Post by: DAVE BRADY on 27 Nov, 2023, 15:36
Hi,

It is cold in the shed and all the tools just want to drain my fingers of any heat so rather than put the heater on I though I would ask questions on here.  If I ask them in the shed there only me to answer and that is not always a good thing.
A10 and A65 oil pumps are pretty much the same but are not directly interchangeable.  They are driven in the opposite direction and the drive ends are different for the different cases but....
The main body of the pumps look the same as do the end caps and all the holes look like they line up with the crank case.
So can the A65 pump body be used in an A10 with the A10 drive?
A65 pumps did improve over the years whereas A10 ones remained the same.  If the body can be used then a later A65 cast iron one could be used - best if the lot they say.  If this will work then it could be a cheaper option to buying a new SRM or Hepolite pump.  That is if a cast iron one can be found.
Thoughts!

Dave.

Hi,

I think I have already answered this by searching some old posts.  The answer seems to be yes, it does work.  Luckily I do have cast iron pump to play with or perhaps try a late alloy DD one.
