Title: A50 piston orientation
Post by: zidz on 31 Oct, 2023, 12:48
Hi guys,

I have a question regarding to BSA A50 1969 piston orientation.
I had to check top end and I notice that according to size markings are pistons in oposite directions in cylinders.

I can't find anywhere information if it is a problem...
Are pistons symetric?

Thank you
With best regards
Zdenek

Hi Zidz,

I believe that pistons are made very slightly oval in the front to back pane so as they do appear to be back to front it should be fine to turn them around but keep them in the same bores.  Often the valve cut aways can accommodate larger valves but as you have had no problems you probably have standard valves so no chance of contact between piston and valves.

Dave.

Hi, it's me again :)

I got new sets of pistons rings and I have a question regarding to oil ring.
There is no mark at all on them like on other rings...

So I suppose that they are symetrical... Is it correct?
Thank you
