Today's question... does anyone know the special knack for getting a C15 engine out of the frame.
I've got everything disconnected: tank off, carb off, exhaust off etc. And replaced the three mounting bolts with a thick round screwdriver front and back - nothing in the bottom. My assistant removed the screwdrivers as I lifted - but I couldn't find a way to get it out.
Is it possible to get it out complete? Or do I need to remove the head? And barrel?
It seems clear that it needs to come out the left side of the bike, to avoid trying to get the chaincase through the frame.
The rear engine mount boss is machined such that the engine can only come out of the rear frame lugs if tilted up at the front about 45degrees, which isn't possible...
I guess I need to get all the tinware off - oil tank, cover that holds the air filter etc to give me a bit more manouevering space.
I'm now thinking I need to use a hoist - so I can fiddle about with angles etc in a leisurely fashion without straining my back.
I checked the Haynes manual: '...and then lift the engine out... '

I bet I know what the manual says about replacing the engine... "Reverse the removal procedure". :-\
I'm sure the rocker box has to come off at least.
But I'd have removed the tinware anyway to give elbow room
I found a YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfUcCs1w5T8&ab_channel=MichaelWaller
Seems the front comes up and then the back goes down - and then it lifts out to the left.
Looks relatively easy with half the engine already removed.
That worked! Front comes up out of the lugs, rear goes down out of lugs, motor lifts out from the left. I did it with the motor complete. (Carb off.)
