Title: C15 crankcase bolts
Post by: Tigerfeet on 23 Oct, 2023, 11:14
Doe anyone know the grip length of the three crankcase bolts. I believe they are 5/16" BSF.

From memory 1,1/2" long under the head, maybe 1,5/8" Head is reduced a/f from 1961 onwards. I have new ones available, pm me if you need some.

Hi Rupert  I was trying to pm you but realised I couldn't add attachments.

The issue I am trying to resolve is that one of the crankcase bolts is fouling on the frame. This might be due to a bent frame, washer under the bolt head or overlarge bolt head - I can't think of any more options?

The crankcase bolt heads currently fitted are slightly domed, and are 6.56mm deep to the edge of the dome. Is that excessively deep? Are they normally fitted with underhead washers?

There is definitely some damage to the frame, but this seems to be confined to the rightside lower rail. I can't see this affecting the clearance on the left side - but will see about straightening it anyway.

Thanks!
