Hi,
Would some one be able to explain how the rear brake pedal pivot pin should be removed please. I need to change the pedal and the pivot pin isn't playing ball. I'm assuming once the nuts off it should tap out of the frame bracket but would like to check in case I'm doing damage.
The nut is a left hand thread and once that's off, there is a serrated D washer that locates the footrest on the spline,
Remove that , will need jiggling and may need a thump on the footrest rubber with a hammer to break its hold on the tapered pivot shaft.
The FR will then come away leaving the pivot shaft in the frame
Hi,
I believe that the head of the pivot has two flats rather than a hex head. If it will not move with a spanner on the flats try some penetrating oil on the threaded part so that it goes in to the frame lug. Over time it could get a bit cruddy in there. If you do try some impact then put the nut back on but leave it loose and use a soft drift rather than hammer on the nut. Once it moves a bit then try the spanner on the flats again.
Dave.
Just had a thought and despite looking at several images online I cannot confirm if the pivot threads in to the frame or not.
So I would refrain from trying to tap it out but assume a threaded hole in the frame.
I encountered a threaded hole when I just removed my B40 brake pedal. The bolt had 2 flats on, and I did have to use an adjustable spanner and a bar to break it free.
The brake pedal bolt was normal thread.
Thanks all, I think I'll stop whacking it and look for some flats! Whole thing looks round to me though ::)
If you need a new pivot pin, they seem to be plentifully available. Just google part no. 40-7010.
Confirmed! Found the chewed up remains of some flats and it's now out 👍.

I may well do that as this one's days are numbered 👍
