Title: 1970 Starfire wiring
Post by: bikerbob on 17 Oct, 2023, 11:21
I am  fitting indicators to my recently purchased Starfire, On removing the seat I came across some taped up wires that go into the main harness that I cannot find on the BSA wiring diagram. There are 2 wires brown and blue connected to a spade connector with a seperate red earth wire these brown and blue wires are live wires with the ignition switched off. There are no brown and blue wires on the wiring diagram. There are 2 other wires with bullet connectors also going into the main harness 1 green and white the other green and red i have traced these wires to inside the headlight housing where they end in bullet connectors so are not used for anything. My main concern are the 2 live brown and blue wires what are they for seeing as they are live without the igntion on or off.

I have no knowledge of the Starfire wiring but generally BSA wiring uses brown/blue wires for an unswitched feed to the horn and brake light circuits.

Thanks for that reply, The lights including the stop light only operate with the ignition switched on, the horn is the only item that works without the ignition on. The other 2 wires I have found on another wiring diagram are for indicators so I will use them for the indictaors that I am  at present fitting.
