Title: C15 engine mounting 1966
Post by: Tigerfeet on 15 Oct, 2023, 09:56
There is zero clearance between this crankcase bolt and the frame on my 1966 C15.  Is this normal

Assuming it isn't normal - is the bolt head too big?

Or - should there be a spacer on the lower engine bolt at this side of the engine?

Thanks

Yes - mine had been bolted up with no spacer.  The frame sprang back when I released previous owners bolt.  I then obtained and fitted the spacer on the offside - but I still have this issue on the nearside. Is it normal?

Of course I've now gone down amother rabbit hole. In one of those piccies you linked to, the C15 sump plate had a handy drain plug. I'm now trying to find who sells those!

That sump plate pic was mine. I modified a spare sump plate.
I modified a sump plate for my SS90 by drilling a hole in it and welding a nut to the outside. Just used a bolt and fibre washer as a drain plug. Makes draining off any oil from wet sumping a quick job.

Just looked at my B40 and yes the bolt head is close to the frame tube, but your bolt head looks taller than mine.

Thanks for that. I think I'll pull the engine out and take the dremel to the appropriate part of that bolt head. I'd be happier with a tiny bit of daylight showing there.
