The clutch sprocket on my C15 is quite wobbly - around 2-3mm if I grab the outside of the clutch and move it around. I've read that some wobble is normal but is mine excessive? I've only taken the cover off to get to the crank nut so I can get to TDC.
It runs on rollers around the clutch centre.
Is your wobble with the clutch lever pulled in? Therefore the wobble is the runout of the very outer cover.
If this is the case , then you can tweak the clutch screws/springs to true it up
Thanks Rhyatt,
I just put a dial gauge on and measured the wobble of the very outer part of the clutch in and out as it sort of rotates around the rollers i.e. if I push the bit at 10 o'clock in the bit at 4 o'clock comes out.
With the clutch lever out the total movement is 1.5mm (turns out I was being melodramatic with 3mm ::)), with clutch in its 1mm.
It looks worse than it is and obviously affects the run of the primary chain which doesn't seem right to me.
Would this wobble be due to worn out cush drive rubbbers?

if you start from the splined gearbox shaft, then the clutch centre slides onto that with a key - so is that snug and tight?
then - around this centre are the million rollers on which the outer sprocket runs - so are the rollers worn?
I think mine moves a shade but usually , when the clutch is driving , the thing centralises keeping the chain run nice
If I try to rock my outer basket then I get a couple of mm max rock side to side with nil plates installed
Thanks Rhyatt. I've only just got the bike and keen to not do too much unless I really need to as I have a poor track history with long term projects. I need to keep it useable as much as possible.
I took the cover off to turn the crank to TDC as I need to take the head off to sort out loose rocker box studs resulting in a lot of oil on the barrel. If I'd not looked in there it would all seem fine.
I think I'll make a note on the list of jobs for later unless something changes.
