Title: Footpeg Stud Removal
Post by: smokeater on 29 Sep, 2023, 15:47
Hello Folks
Thanks for this great Forum.
I was hoping someone could help me with a question about my 1970 BSA Lightning that I am working on.
I am having trouble getting the left side, left hand thread driver footpeg stud out.
I have tried heating it up and an extractor to no avail.
The threads were messed up so double nutting the LH thread is out.
Has anyone had any luck with this.
Thank you.
Tim

Since you're replacing it, put a set of mole grips on the spline.

You could also try applying a blow lamp to the stud itself, get it cherry red. Then clamp the mole grips to the spline and it should come out. Might just need a tap with a mallet.

Thank you. Got it out with more heat and a stud remover.
