Good morning has anybody done a swing arm bronze bush conversion on the FWH model swing arms ,
My telepathic senses are not telling me what the bike is??
If it's an A65, just buy a swing arm for a 69/70 model. Those are bushed as standard.
Bike in question 1959 bsa a10
Hi,
The standard rubber type work incredibly well and require no maintenance once installed. Even with a sidecar attached they will last 10s of thousands of miles so a bush conversion may not be an improvement.
Dave.
my experience of silenbloc bushes is wandering steering at high speed.
so i replace the bushes with needle roller bearings and depending on what size of spindle use bobbins and spacer and tap and fit a grease nipple.
not my idea but sourced from blogs on internet.
i wish it was as easy to replace my knee , hip and lower spine
What are you calling high speed? My Lightning still has the factory bushes in, it has never been a problem. - suspension setup has caused it to feel unsteady, but with that sorted it goes a treat.
Yes std rubber bushes I agree can cover many many thousands of miles ,but with some particularly FWH with cross over brake the spindle can seize , some of the replacement bushes are not good in diamentions and rubber not same quality as original, I have done several conversions on the solid spindle type and still running now ,
Bronze bush type give more control over rear suspension units ,
So I was just wonder if any one had done this on the FWH crossover type , not sure if Unity Equipe used to offer the service ,
i have grippy bridgestones on my a10 and found roadsurfaces on motorways caused a lack of backend stability.
bridgestone tyres, needle rollers and grease for me.
also bought those ikon imitation shocks from a bsa dealer and now i am very happy with my bsa handling.
a bush kit from unity would work just as well i think as long as the grease is pumped inside.
Yes, I have done a bronze bush conversion. It was covered in The Star a few months ago.
Good morning,do you know which month please I looked through but couldn't find article,
