Title: Wassell Vape Electronic Ignition - Faulty Stator?
Post by: maddogb31 on 26 Sep, 2023, 10:20
Hi All,
I recently fitted the Wassell Vape Micro-MK1 to my BSA A50.
It ran OK for the first 100 mile then it became difficult to start and would cut out at junctions etc.
The (new) plugs were a bit sooty on inspection.

I tested the (new) 6v coils at 1.5ohm primary & 9.4k secondary, I could not find any spec in the instructions (except for 12v dual output racing coil) I assume my coils are ok.

However the stator tested 132.5ohm (instructions state 146ohm). Is my stator faulty? Has anyone tested theirs?
I have emailed Wassell but yet to have a reply!

I am currently running on points, 12v coils, nice fat spark, starts easy and no cutting out so confident that ignition was the problem.
TIA Ian

It would be rare that the stator coils are faulty, check the continuity between the wires also.
