Title: Central fuel tank bolt ?
Post by: Stephen foster on 14 Sep, 2023, 18:00
Hello ,
Wonder if Anyone might be able to inform Me the diameter and length of the centre fixing bolt for My 1955/56 swinging arm frame A10 please ?
Should this bolt also have a reduced head ?

I am struggling forcing the rubber bung deep enough to get the thread to start and am hoping to be able to find a slightly longer bolt ?

Thank You in advance ,
Steve..

Hi,

You should be able to get the proper bolt.  Have a google, there plenty on ebay.

Thank You Dave ,
I have 2 already but had been trying to establish diameter and thread to source a longer than standard bolt to cut down .
Only needs to be 1/4" longer to catch the threads in the nut .

Hi,

Do you have the correct nut?  It has a bit of a sleeve to go through the top washer which makes it about a 1/4" deeper than a standard nut.

Dave ,
Its a possibility that the nut has been replaced ?
Its a standard nut on My frame .

Ive just cut about 1/4" from the rubber bung and it now fastens ..

Hi,

More than likely but as long as it now fits and is secure.

You are aware that their is a threaded sleeve insert in the top of the frame that the tank bolt screws into?
