Title: Amal 276DR/1AT
Post by: yellow B31 on 22 Aug, 2023, 19:38
Can anyone explain what the letters DR and 1AT mean?
I need a replacement carburettor body for my B31, 1 inch choke.
looking on Ebay there are similar 1 inch chock body's for sale with different numbers. Will they be suitable or does it have to be a DR/1AT?

I don't know what the DR means but /1AT represents the configuration of the float bowl. I have a B33 with a  289G/1AT carburetor so it has the same float bowl as yours.
Check out the Amal web site. You may find what DR means.

The carb for 1949 to 1954 was a 276DR/1AT and the carb for 1948 to 1949 models was 276AW/1BB. I've no idea what the difference was but it may be the jet block which seems to vary from model to model in the earlier bikes.

Thanks for your thoughts.  The Amal website is a mine of info. 1AT is a 7 degree float bowl and DR refers to jet size combinations. Not too clear but that apparently is the answer.
