Good evening all,
I had a little project for my 63' D7 Bantam, it was taking the original cast, reverse engineering it and changing the 'Super' to my daughters name, so she has her very own custom BSA, even if she's currently only 2 years old.
Started off with the original cover, scanning it on the bluelight scanner which generated an stl file within 100 microns point to point.

Once scanned, used the CMM to accurately get the bolt hole positions.

With this data I was able to surface model a new cover within a few hundred microns to the original.

With the model, I machined it from a solid block of 7075.

After about 10 hours of reverse engineering, 4 hours of machining, and tumbling to give it an aged effect I was pleased with the results but still got a few details to sort in the surface finishes.
