Title: C15 star
Post by: Forman on 14 Jul, 2023, 17:11
I am stripping a C15. I have the SINGLES BSA manual and various service sheets.

When it comes to the inner gearbox cover the handbook says don't remove it without the gears otherwise reassembly is virtually impossible. The service sheets (422) says you can remove it and leave gears in the crankcase. Which is correct?

Current status is the inner cover is loose and the clutch side stripped down with the chain drive sprocket removed. Although all the shafts are loose I can still not withdraw the whole assembly, there is something stopping it.

Any ideas?

Have you removed the split pin and pivot rod of the quadrant?
This let's you remove the inner cover leaving the quadrant in situ

Hi rhyatt, thanks for you comment . No have not done this yet, it is identified in the service 422. The original query I had was the Haynes Single manual which says do not separate the inner cover from the gears. I suppose I could remove the pin to see what happens. I must admit I am more likely believe the service sheet that the Haynes manual which is a bit sketchy on C15 star dental.
