Hi, I'm thinking about getting myself a Super Rocket but have been unable to find out exactly how to be certain any bike I'm looking at is indeed a genuine Super Rocket? I've found various sites that give Frame and Engine prefix/numbers but all of them seemed to suggest that the Frame numbers were the same prefix and serial numbers as for the standard A10 - is this correct? If so how can i tell a genuine Super Rocket from a standard A10. Hope this makes sense and hope someone can clarify this for me.
According to the lists I have, 1958 / 1959 Super Rockets have engine number CA10R 6001 onwards and Frame FA7 prefix (same as standard A10). 1960 / 1961 / 1962 / 1963 Super Rockets are DA10R engines with GA7 Frames (Julian will no doubt correct if I've got it wrong!). Obviously engines may have been swapped into "standard A10" frames, so only real way is to get a dating certificate to confirm the actual pairing is "genuine".
Hi, thanks for your help. So, if I'm understanding correctly, the various tables I've seen showing that the Super Rocket and the standard A10's all shared the same GA7 frame prefixes for 1961 is correct and therefore there's no way to tell a genuine Super Rocket from a standard A10 once it has had it's engine changed for whatever reason. The only way to know for sure is by getting a dating certificate showing an original "matching pair"? :)
