Title: Crankcase sump spring
Post by: MattAngus on 08 Jul, 2023, 15:49
Afternoon. I have removed my sump cover to check if the ball and spring are seating correctly as I keep having a wet sumping issue and the spring is missing. Can someone please guide me the best place to buy and new one as I'm struggling to get one and a picture of how it all should look with the ball housing going through the gauze etc? Thank you

If it is a A10 or A7 there is no spring. The ball is free. If you want the non return valve you have to strip the engine and on the inside of the timing side near to the timing Bush you will see a pegged slotted screw. Under this is the ball and spring
If a unit twin remove the oil pump and the ball and spring is behind.

Sorry I stupidly didn't mention the bike. It's a '58 B31

If a B31. Again no spring just a ball in scavenger  pipe. Non return valve is under the nut on the timing cover.
