By taking the 18" front wheel out of my A50 and replacing it with an 8" TLS 19" rim , will it alter the handling of the bike ? Yes the stopping will be far better but wil the bike have safe handling...........The wheel is out of an A65 .. Could even sell the bub and rin as this one was found in the shed...
It will be absolutely fine. You might find cornering is a tad slower (doesn't turn as sharp) but you would get the same result from a fatter tyre also. Overall it should be just fine.
I think the handling will be fine.
My concern will be the way the brake plate anchors to your fork. You might need a different cable too.
Also close attention needed to set up the shoes with the connecting rod to achieve best twin leading effect.
One of my 8" hubs came with a connecting rod that was actually for a 7" - not surprisingly it didn't really work. These things can be sent to try us!
There is more than one type of TLS 8" hub, some were fitted to Triumphs in 1968 with cable entering near the bottom. In 1968-70 they were modified to have the cable entering from above and behind R fork. Also have you thought about how it will affect your mudguard .
It will fit under the mudguard OK though not too much room for the dirt to build up. The braake plate slides into the forks OK as they are the same as the A65. No worries about the setting as it worked perfectly on my A65 and the cable off an a65 will do fine . It's the same as Triumph as well
