Title: MCR2 Regulator
Post by: yellow B31 on 23 Jun, 2023, 11:58
My 1949 B31 has a pattern MCR2 regulator in very poor condition. I presume they are made in the far East to a very low standard.
Is there a good quality new one available these days? I ran these bikes in the 1960's and found the 6v reliable winter and summer so would like to retain one if possible. If not who is the best supplier for a solid state item and is it ok to fit it inside the old MCR2 box? Any cooling problems?

Don't  mess around with mechanical regulators. Get a solid state one from Dynamo Regulator made be a motorcyclist. Its a DCR fit and forget.

The DVR2 is the one to fit, easy to fit, compact and reliable, been using one for years.

Thanks guys. Looks like the way to go. How does the DVR2 compare with the similar priced thing from Paul Goff?

The vreg2b unit from AO services is excellent. Supplied by someone with years of knowledge.
