Good afternoon,
Can anyone tell me what the off set is for a BSA Starfire 18" wheel fired with as 7" twin leading shoe brake and which side it is measured on?
Kind regards Mark
I am sure that if you phone up Central Wheel Components and, ask them politely, they should be able to tell you. Out of interest, what is the reason for the question? If I was rebuilding a wheel and did not have measurements from the original wheel to go by, or I was changing from a SLS hub to a TLS hub, I would simply fit the hub in the forks with the rim roughly trued up and measure what change in offset was required to centre the rim between the fork legs. It's easy enough to alter the offset at that stage.
Just got the info I needed, the off set is 1/16 inch negative. That is with a stright edge across the wheel the rim of the 7" TLS brake is below the edge by said amount.
