Title: B25 wiring harness
Post by: AltcarBob on 28 May, 2023, 18:03
My bikes wiring is a horror show with bits of wire wrapped in pvc sticky tape and what looks like a bit of windscreen washer pipe.

What option is the best
1. New harness Lucas branded harnesses are available for around the £80 mark but I fancy upgrading the headlight and fitting indicators so some wiring to do.

2. Repairs taking out the dodgy looking speaker wires, loose connections and rewrapping. I feel that will be a lot of work.

3. Building my own harness I have seen complete kits at aoservices.co.uk for £38 but I would need to include a pair of decent quality crimpers. Never done a complete harness before.

So which should I go for.

Swings and roundabouts.
I'd make up my own bespoke wiring which allows for modifications such as indicators, extra earthing and fuses. I also solder the bullet connectors rather than crimping, but again that's a matter of personal choice. As long as you have the wiring diagram showing the colours of the various wires, the materials are easy to get and the job should be straight forward. A range of sleeving is available for extra protection.
