Title: New tank prep
Post by: Dibble on 25 May, 2023, 09:30
Hello gents hope your enjoying the sunshine. Advice needed regarding my new petrol tank purchased from Burtons ( excellent service by the way ). It's been in storage for sometime  but appears spot on. My question is what is the preperation for the inside before actually  using it. The inside seems to be lined with a red  lead type paint! Should i just flush and flush again until it shows clear? Obviously paint will come later. Any advice gratefully  recieved.  Regards
Dave

If the tank is a Indian one
Leave the internal paint asit won't come. My Indian tanks are still good after years of use

The Indian made tanks are normally internally finished with a red coloured sealer or liner looking a bit like a Red Kote finish. It's there as a rust inhibitor but may also be there to seal any pin holes in the welded seals. How good it is compared with Red Kote or POR-15 is difficult to say?
