Title: Bantam D175
Post by: Rocketman51 on 21 May, 2023, 17:31
Hi.
A few years ago we bought a D175 with the intentions of me and Dad rebuilding it.
Dad had alzheimers and vascular dementia and couldn't help  :(.
Sad because he'd had bikes all his life Vincent AJS and others, even taking part in TT in 1955, I've still got his lapel badge.
I have a new wiring loom for it but the colours are different to standard and I'm as colourblind as a chess board, hence trying to get keen eyed dad to help.
I've just released it from the shackles of the shed and want to get it running and use it.
Would anyone know where I could get a current wiring diagram that doesn't have the translucent wiring??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you all for reading this.
Sunny here in Essex.

The wiring harness for the D7 Bantam is relatively simple and normally uses plain coloured wires. To help, it would be useful to see a pic of the complete harness stretched out so the colours and connectors can be seen. With this, it would be possible to work out the correct wiring diagram for you assuming this is off a Bantam.

Hi Rocketman,
The Bantam looms all used the translucent wire for the earth, this type of wire is not made any longer so replacement looms use an alternative colour for the earth. One would hope that the other colours are standard(!).
If you look online you should find a diagram which you can adapt by labelling the earth as whatever colour the loom you have uses.
However ... all the Bantam harnesses are different and sometimes it's not at all obvious!
Regards.
