Title: Torque settings
Post by: Geoff Leake on 29 Mar, 2023, 10:28
Morning all, Does anybody know if a comprehensive list of torque setting for a B33 engine exists anywhere?

i would have thought a torque wrench would be difficult to use on barrel nuts or gland nut. the pushrod tube nuts only needs tightening or the stud will snap.
you could use the a65 torque settings as a guide but my single does not leak like a twin. if it does leak volumes then the flapper valve must be sticking. using locktite may be a good idea.

Thanks Eddie, Point taken about the difficulty getting the torque wrench on some of the parts. Having said that, right now I'm interested in the torque settings for the bolts holding the two crankcase halves together.

the triumph haynes manual gives 13ib ft for crankcase bolts and 20lb ft for crankcase studs but doesnt say whether thats for 5/16 or 3/8.

Thanks Eddie. I have all the torque settings for Triumph twins from the same era, so don't suppose I'll go far wrong if I refer to those settings combined with a touch of common sense. Thanks again.

Hi,
The A65, 5/16" crankcase studs are 16/18 lb/ft, in the absence of any guidance cant be far out.

Best wishes...
