Title: Rocker feed pipes
Post by: Dibble on 09 Mar, 2023, 15:03
A question regarding oil feed pipe diameter for rockers on A65. Having just fitted a Morgo oil filter i decided to use their dual banjo fitting to avoid having to tee off further up the return  line. As you are probably aware the banjo has 5/16 and 1/8 connection's. Will the reduction in the internal diameter  to 1/8 from 3/16 affect the delivery of the oil or maybe increase in pressure will compensate? Any views please. By the way the quality of the Morgo item is superb. Thanks. Dave

The reduction in diameter will affect flow so less oil will reach the rockers. This would be exacerbated further if the length is longer than standard. (Or, reduce the effect if shorter of course).
I'm not aware of the Morgo filter but if the rocker outlet you mention is before the filter then fine, but if it's after, the pressure will have dropped further than if it was direct from the pump. This may well affect the flow even more.
On the other hand, the rockers are purely oscillating and therefore as long as they are getting some oil, there shouldn't be a problem.
However, if it was me fitting one, I would leave the feed direct from the manifold as BSA intended.
Hope this helps!
