Title: switch panel identification
Post by: HRBerquist on 28 Feb, 2023, 14:26
I've found a switch/ampmeter panel in my stash that I can't identify. In stead of the big switch hole with the 2 indexing lugs, it has a 3/4 inch dia hole with a flat on the front side. Is this for an early type switch or what? My 1950 Golden Flash, of course, uses the type with the big hole. Any ideas???

Any chance of the picture? Up to 1957, the cowl that covered the headlight shell had a big hole for the speedo and smaller holes either side for the switch and ammeter. As far as I can see, the same cowl was used from 1949 to 1957 (67-5084).

The panel with the larger hole which has 2 lugs or ears takes the U38 type switch.

The panel with the smaller hole with a flat takes the 41SA switch and was used on the Super Rocket with separate headlamp, the Gold Star and rocket Gold Star in 1962/63.

41SA shown below. The flat on the threaded part engages with the flat in the panel to prevent switch rotating when operated.
