Title: 1934 clutch spring.
Post by: David Samways on 27 Feb, 2023, 23:21
The clutch spring (15-350, but probably the same as 15-301) has brocken on my '34 Blue Star (see pic). I've robbed the one from my L32-3 project for now, but need to replace it.

I see that Cornucopia have replicas, but it's a PITA getting anything from Europe now, so I'd rather find one in the UK. Any leads?

OD 1.7"
ID 1.2"
L 1.5"

I should have added that I can probably get one made locally, so if anyone else needs one I can get a few made. Rather not go down that route if there's a readily available replacement though.

Aren't they the same as an M20. Try Russel motors.

I think the M20 used a round section spring, but I'll check it out. Thanks

Just checked - the M20 spring is round section and 2.3" long. Not sure about other dimensions, but the length rules it out.

My local spring maker (Alberta Springs) tells me that rectangular section spring wire is now extremely difficult to find. The good news is that we reckon a slightly weaker round section spring will do the trick. At a cost of about thirty quid, I'm willing to give it a go and if successful Graham can make them to order.

Hi Hans, I'm getting one made in round wire, but if you have a spare I could be interested.
