Title: Conflicting info
Post by: phattstump on 26 Feb, 2023, 22:05
Hi,
I'm getting conflicting replies to a question
the Engine No. DA10 R 6327

some say 1962 RGS
others say 1961 RR

I'm confused

Regards Peter

It is an engine from either a 1962 Super Rocket or a 1962 Rocket Gold Star - the RGS was a Gold Star with a Super Rocket engine fitted. You can't tell which model the engine was originally fitted to from the engine number on its own.

spaceman is correct in what he says the only difference that I know of internally is that the RGS had 9-1 pistons whereas the super rocket had 8.5-1 pistons but it could still be a super rocket engine that has been fitted with the higher pistons by a previuos owner.

Only a despatch book entry will tell you the original model.

Glass's check book gives the start number for the 1962 RGS as DA10R 6762 so I think 6327 is Super Rocket.
